Establishing a roster of climate change experts

We are opening applications to join a roster of experts to support the UK PACT Programme in alleviating poverty through reducing emissions across the globe.

Following recent market engagement, we are opening applications to join a of roster of experts to support the UK PACT (Partnering for Accelerated Climate Transitions) Programme in alleviating poverty through reducing emissions across the globe.

Today we live and work in unprecedented times when governments and businesses are having to focus on the immediate response to COVID-19. Programmes such as UK PACT are long term and, while not at front of mind at the moment, will help Government, business and the economy once the crisis is over.

UK PACT is a capacity building programme announced in 2018, delivered through the UK Government’s International Climate Finance (UK ICF). PA Consulting is a delivery partner to UK PACT. The programme responds to the critical global need to build the capacity of ODA-eligible, high-emissions countries to accelerate the implementation of their climate change commitments under the Paris Agreement.

UK PACT’s programme objectives are to:
  • Work in partnership with countries seeking to improve the capacity and capability of key institutions to reduce emissions
  • Focus on implementation and climate ambition, by helping to address barriers, constraints and areas of opportunity at different levels of government based on the country’s political and economic context and sectoral priorities
What is the roster of experts for?
  • The roster of subject matter experts will help to deliver a programme of peer-to-peer skill-shares with organisations in UK PACT’s partner countries.
Previous skill-shares have included:
  • Advising the Government of Malaysia on the development of a Climate Change Act and National Climate Change Centre
  • Conducting a peer review of electricity market reform proposals with the Colombian Government’s ‘Mission for Energy Transformation’
  • Sharing UK experience of establishing world leading climate change legislation and establishing national carbon budgets with Mexican NGOs, and key government stakeholders
Who are we looking for?
Roster members will be required to have a high level of technical expertise within their field(s) and a track record of relevant experience. UK PACT roster members will be paid for their time, and reimbursed for the expenses incurred, when they are deployed on a skill-share.

Although it is the expertise of the individual we are interested in, and that we will be assessing in applications to the roster, it is expected that applications will be put forward by a legal entity, and that the contract would be signed with the entity. We are interested in people from a range of professions, including, but not limited to, policy makers, financial experts, lawyers, programme managers, engineers, academics, and consultants.

Why should you apply?
Being part of our community of experts is an excellent opportunity to:
  • Support poverty alleviation through accelerating the climate transition
  • Support and contribute to the UK’s climate change ambition at a global level
  • Develop your personal network with individuals and organisations across the UK and the world
To register your interest please complete the form on this page. We will then send you the documents that you will need to apply for the programme. Registrations close on Thursday 11th June 2020.
