‘Koelschip’ which literally translates as ‘cooling ship’ is the largest room named after its historical role in the brewing process. It is located on the brewery’s top floor, 30 metres above ground level. Until the 1960s, hot beer wort was cooled here, simply by opening the many windows. Today, the impressive room with its beautiful copper-plated bar, has a spacious balcony that offers a breathtaking view of the heart of Amsterdam.
